13 years ago today....

I can't believe Joey & Alex are 13 (well, not officially until 5:10 p.m. and 5:16 p.m.). Time has flown by when I think about it. Seems like yesterday we were going thru hundreds of diapers, doctor visits all the time, thumb sucking, baby food jars that I couldn't buy enough of---can you say Blueberry Buckle, someon always had an ear infection, baby bottles all over the kitchen, no sleep the first several weeks, pushing them in the stroller and going to the mall because that was all I could do with them and I was lonely, planning their first birthday, then their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and so on?! Now we've planned the Paintball Party for Sunday with 10 friends and cousins, sure to be a big, fun mess! Now it's all about their sports, phones, itouch, playing PS3, texting girls and hoping they text them back, wanting to "hang out" with their friends instead of the playgroups we used to attend, mom always being wrong, and don't EVER tell them what to wear or how to fix their hair. No one can tell they are twins anymore because Alex is so much taller than Joey (he's as tall as me now). Joey just looks at me with those eyes of his and he gets his slushie after soccer practice when I really just want to go home. Happy birthday beautiful boys. I love you so much!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I finally got to do my first table-scape like so many I see on my favorite decorating blogs...mine is not quite as elaborate, but I loved it just the same! The boys, including Charlie, were surprised when they saw it this morning! I made the chocolate puffcorn treats for the kids too that I found on the tidymom blog that I love to read. Ben really loved it and so did Carmen! For breakfast, Charlie and I made the Barefoot Contessa's Challah French Toast and it was delicious! I also made sauteed bananas in brown sugar and butter which was pretty tasty too. Carmen, Ben and I spent the afternoon shopping while Charlie, Alex & Joey watched some new movies they bought (Zombieland, District 9). For dinner I made chicken fried steak--a very southern meal with gravy and mashed potatoes. Alex and I made chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. We really celebrated Valentine's Day all weekend by going to see "Valentine's Day" the movie yesterday while the kids saw "Lightning Thief". We shopped at the mall and Charlie and I bought stuff for ourselves instead of giving each other Valentine's gifts.

No soccer games this weekend because of the record snowfall this week. The mall was packed! The kids are out of school again tomorrow for President's Day and we will be getting ready for the twin's big 13th birthday on Thursday--unbelievable. My family will all be here on Friday to celebrate Joey & Alex's birthday and they have a big paintball party scheduled for Sunday with their friends.

Now I'm going to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the Olympics. Go USA!!

Record Snowfall!!! 10.25" in Frisco

We can't believe how much snow we have in Frisco! This snowfall broke the record for the amount of snow in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The kids played in it after school yesterday until dark. Friends even heated the spa....too cold for that!! No school today so we are sleeping in and will enjoy the white stuff later on today. I think it will be around for a while and what a mess it will be when it all melts. yuck!

Dallas Texans win Texan Madness Tournament in Houston!!!

So proud of Joey & his team!! They won the 13U Texan Madness Tournament in Houston, Jan. 23rd. Charlie was out of town, so he missed it, but the boys & I went to Houston and stayed with Twila and her family. Her son, Nick who is 10, had a blast with the boys! They played nerf gun wars and made hilarious videos all weekend. Mark even kept the boys while Twila and I went to dinner Sat. night. It was nice to catch up with her.

For the tournament---Joey played great in every game! They won the championship with a hearder scored by Brennan, off a corner kick by Ethan, at the last minute. It was so exciting!! I was really excited for Joey. They come in second so many times and they really deserved to win this one!!

Home Improvements....

Charlie & I worked on a few home improvements last weekend. We made a scrapbook corner for me in our home office. I love it!!! I can't wait until I get to use it. We also stacked our washer and dryer (it only took us 4 1/2 years) and built shelves in the laundry room. We love all the extra storage and room we now have in this room. Sunny didn't like the idea of his kitty litter being moved in here, but he got over it.

Griffin Basketball vs. Stayley 1/7/10

Both Joey & Alex's teams won their games against Stayley. Both boys played well and scored, YEAH!! We left after the second game so we could watch the BCS National Championship game! Love ALABAMA!!! They whooped up on Texas much to my delight!!

Plate for Carmen

Carmen always makes special gifts for all of us, so we decided to make something special for her this year. I took the boys to "Color Me Mine", a ceramic store in Frisco, where they painted a platter for her. They came up with the design idea and did all the work themselves. They even painted her cats under the tree. We took this to Carmen on Christmas Day and she loved it!
